Starwood Hotels and Resorts has announced plans for a new property with its Element concept in Basalt. The project is slated to open in August 2015 and expects to create 29 full-time hotel jobs.

Element is the first hotel brand whose properties all follow the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, with an emphasis on sustainable design. Element Basalt Aspen Valley will be Starwood’s second property with the Element brand in Colorado.

Element Basalt Aspen Valley will be sited in the new Willis Town Center, less than 30 minutes from both Aspen and Snowmass Village. Features of the hotel will be 113 guest rooms, with a design allowing abundant natural light, featuring modular furniture and spa-inspired bathrooms. Other amenities include a fitness center, complimentary bicycles that guests can borrow, and meeting space.

“Element is on track to double its portfolio in the next two years due to its highly successful positioning and emphasis on clean, sustainable living,” said Allison Reid, senior vice president of North America development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “Element Basalt Aspen Valley will offer an entirely fresh perspective on the extended stay experience in an area celebrated for its phenomenal skiing and year-round outdoor recreation.”
